Some people never seem to get colds, while others seem to always be sick. The same is true of the flu. You learned about the causes of the infections in my last article. Here you will learn how to strengthen your immune system naturally.

Some immunity comes with age, unless a person suffers from an immunodeficiency disease. Some immunity can be lost with age, due at least partially to poor nutrient absorption. As we age, it can become harder for our bodies to absorb nutrients from the foods that we eat.

But, what do nutrients have to do with immune system function? That depends on the nutrient in question. Let’s look at a few important nutrients and how they help to protect you from viral infections of all kinds.

  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids 

The omega-3 fatty acids are a group of unsaturated fats, some of which are particularly healthy, all of which are healthier than saturated and trans-fat. Both the omega-3s and omega-6s are essential and must be present in the diet, but the popular food trend has caused many people to suffer from a dietary imbalance. They get many times more omega-6s than omega-3s. This leads to inflammation throughout the body.

Inflammation is one of the symptoms associated with viral infections. If a person is already suffering from low-grade inflammation due to an unhealthy diet, they will suffer more severe symptoms. You can increase your intake of the healthiest omega-3 fatty acids by taking Omega3/DHA Fish Oil.
